Schott A-2 leather flight jacket, made in 1994, in absolutely exceptional condition. The leather is very soft and supple, with virtually no wear. Schott’s take on the A-2 is a reproduction of the original U.S. Army Air Force flight jacket first introduced in 1931 and worn throughout world war 2 by pilots, bomber crews, and officers.
This jacket is built from naked cowhide leather with a smooth, rich finish and features all the classic A-2 details: epaulets on the shoulders, snap-down collar, two roomy flap pockets with hidden handwarmers, and a sturdy brass Ideal zipper. The waistband and cuffs are made from thick wool knit, perfectly intact but with a little fraying and the jacket includes its original zip out pile liner for cold weather use. The only thing wrong with this reproduction is that the original 1930s and 1940s U.S. Air Force jackets didn’t have hand warmer pockets or a waistband like this one does have.
Schott has been making leather jackets in the USA since 1913, and this 1994 example shows their commitment to quality. It’s so good.
The jacket is tagged size 44 and will fit a size XL, exact measurments in the last picture.
